Got to the airport at 8ish and booked in before saying goodbye to all...a few tears but from the one I wasn't expecting!! had to walk away, Ben was going to set me off!!
Through security and customs no problems....of course!!
Plane was on time and once boarded and settled in we where off....Katie's biggest flight!!
And she did really well....no air sickness ....we all did manage some sleep which was good...but only from Perth to Dubai. Dubai Airport has certainly grown since we were last there in 2008. Talk about huge....
Had a two hour stop over before heading off for the last leg.
Was 8 hours to London a bit longer than anticipated as we were in a holding pattern due to the busy Heathrow airport. Saw three planes flying around near us doing the same. Landed at 12pm lunch time....slightly shattered and sort of starting to resemble zombies. Through border control with a very grumpy and not very pleasant looking customs lady...she soooo loves her job!!
Got bags quite early ....made our way out and found our driver...by this stage I could of hugged him...would not have been able to handle the train, would have fallen asleep!!
Arrived at our accommodation and had to wait for our room to be finished so went to find a shop to get some water and breakfast things.... Jason wasn't far behind us. So good to give him a hug .....Actually big hugs all round....
we stayed at the apartment for awhile as we were still unpacking and all needed showers....felt a bit more human after that!!
Once all done we left to tick some touristy bits off Katie's list!! First tube ride....buying first Oyster card ( smartrider) we went to Piccadilly circus M&M world....so busy....so many pretty Christmas lights, band playing Christmas music (salvation Army) Saw a little fair in Leicester Square...beautiful with all the lights....saw where to get cheap tickets to shows on the day ( Katie and Evan hoping to get Billy Elliot for tomorrow night)
Notice how Katie is standing....I didn't until after I took the photo...laughter all around.
Next stop was the wow factor for Katie and the first time we had been this close to Big Ben.... such a beautiful building and amazing to see....
Jason even managed to get a red double decker bus into the picture....:)
We also went to West Minster Abbey to hear an organ recital by a gentleman from New York called Stephen Hamilton. I have to say we were all doing very well up to this point. I tried to not close my eyes, but did twice and started to fall asleep nearly falling off my chair twice.....lol
We even took Katie to a Pub so she could have her first English style beer....She didn't like the pale ale she had so she needs to start trying more to see which one she likes....we are going to call her 1/2 pint...not because she is small but because she drinks to fast so she is only going to have 1/2 pints so as not to get blottto every night!! lol
We had Dinner at an Italian restaurant with views of Tower of London, tower bridge and the Iconic HMS Belfast.....just gorgeous all lit up....
by this stage we were hungry but extremely tired and the fumes we were running on were just about vapors!! lovely dinner . We walked across the tower bridge and made our way to the train station where we parted company with Jason. As we were walking to the train station our feet were dragging and Jason mentioned that it sounded like he was being followed by zombies...I replied we were the Walking Dead!!
I can tell you that was the longest train trip ever in the history of man kind....Short walk to the Apartment, cleaned teeth etc and straight to sleep....
Another day another blog tomorrow.
