Well the weather was nice in London when we woke up. Finished packing and headed down stairs after breakfast to check out. Decided to catch a cab so Katie could cross another item off her list of must do's!! Walked to the end of the street and as we rounded the corner we said " There's one!!" The driver heard us as his window was down and he pulled over and waited for us. Climbed in and off we go to the St Pancras at Kings Cross to store our bags as we didn't want to carry them the whole way through the British museum....Finally found out where that section was....was not easy carry our back packs in the carry bags and I got stroppy as I was in so much pain from carrying it on my shoulder...I did however have Katie and Evan saying things to make it easier but being the stubborn cow that I am I lost it instead.....they left me and went off to find it before coming back to get me and my bag.....
We then went in search of Kings Cross station to find platform 9 3/4 ....we actually walked passed it and onto platform nine....They have a small gift shop and a trolley half in the wall....pretty cool....the only thing that peed me off was the two New York ladies that wouldn't stop fluffing their hair before during and after the photos.....seriously its annoying!!
Off we went in search of the British museum...Map boy in charge again. So many beautiful boutique hotels and swish big hotels along the way and more squirrel's in Russel square....they are just tooo cute!!
Finally made it and decided to have lunch first ....then it was up to Katie with what she would like to see.
We saw the Egyptian first, the Greece/Syrians items and history and then lastly the Kings Collection ( King George the 3rd) Katie was totally in awe of the Book section more than anything and this was only a small bit of his collection....she also found a first edition of Shakespeare full collection of his plays and poems . She was slightly drooling which was probably a good thing that is was behind class!! Katie then said whats next...Evan said nothing its time to go....sadly we left with only seeing a tiny fraction of this amazing place...we are hoping to go back after Christmas.
Back the way we came to fetch our bags at St Pancras and to meet up with Jason. Our train was leaving London at 4pm....we should arrive in Paris by 7.20pm. Our hotel was a 1.5km walk from the train station. The train trip went quite fast what with talking, ears pooping quite dramatically and playing scrabble......
Once at the hotel we un packed and headed out. Our first stop was the Arc De Triumph .....so funny watching the drivers...they are idiots around that bit. So glad I will never have to do that....crossing the streets on foot is bad enough. After photos and a short stroll down the Champs des Elysees.
It was drizzling at this stage. Went off on the side streets to try and get to the Eiffel Tower with out giving it away to Katie where we are going....didn't happen!! The closer we got the wetter we where....we saw it with the lights on for Nelson Mandela and then as we were walking under it , it started to sparkle with the little lights so we rushed out to see it. So pretty .
We were so wet by this stage that we went to the train station and headed back to the hotel....We were all serenaded by the train driver...as we approached our station the driver said goodnight and then blew a big kiss.....So cool and funny. We got back by midnight and we were cold wet and tired. Another day in Paris tomorrow. good night all.
