After breakfast we found out that the cable car up to the mountain was cancelled as it was too windy. so we thought we would try it a bit later.
Walked to the Mirabelle palace and gardens but the palace was closed. So after a browse through the gardens we headed into the old city to make our way to the panoramic view of the city .
Like a little fort and such lovely little walk ways through foressted bits....after copious amounts of photos ( got to love digital camera's)
we headed down the stairs to go get the bus to the Cable car...didnt have long to wait and the bus took 1/2 hour to get there.
Carpark was empty so we were worried that it might not be opened....but Phew it was. It looked like we were going to be a small group going up in the cable car...but just before we got on, a tour bus of grannies and grandads turned up....packed in like sardines....Not much fun for Katie!! But she did well.
It was a great trip up and the views ...WOW!! The best bits were going over the support piles and it lurches forward...WHEEEEEEE!! I know many didn't like it...
Once up the top we headed out side to walk in the snow ...very slippery in bits.
Greg didn't go as far as us and I didn't go as far as the rest. But had fun in the snow and watching others slipping and sliding in their groups....so many didn't have any good shoes, so that made me more amazed how they were'nt on their bums the whole time!!
Jason, Evan, Terri and I walked about halfway along the walkway. Slipping and sliding, I was doing really well until one hill....Jason poised at the base waiting with camera ready....WHOOPS!! Down I go!
Views from the top of the halfway peak are absolutely stunning! Germany on one side, Austria on the other. Rather weird seeing a borderline thats not really a borderline without the lines of a map. Anyway, snowballs! softer snow, easier to manipulate into a ball. Mwahaha, one at Terri, one at Evan, Evan back at me, Terri to Jason....and so on. Much fun!
Snowman time!!!! Jason made the great idea on doing it where another person had made a snowangel. So off we go. Terri headed off back towards Sharon after a few happy snaps, Evan stayed on the higher ground looking at us. Few snowballs and smiles later, off Jason and I go down this deceptively soft snow. Whoops...Jason goes down to knee deep....And you know what that means for me!!! Waist deep. HAHAHA smiles all around even though we are soaked! Snowman time! Ha, not so great snow. Jason got about halfway through the first ball before it broke, you really need freshly fallen snow.
But the hightlight? WHITE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
By this time, we have almost hit the 3.45 mark and the last decent is at 4pm. Time to head back. So off I trot leaving Jason and Evan in my wake. Then much to my surprise I come across Sharon and Terri Sliding down the hill on their BUMS!!!!!
It was better than falling a lot....the down side was having a numb bum until the hotel.
Back to the hotel and we had showers and got ready for our picnic in the lift lobby bit on our floor....we had the whole floor to ourselves.
The view was amazing....lights everywhere. Pillows and doona's thrown down and the food spread around. Drinks opened, champagne poured and photo's taken......Perfect meal to end a wonderful Christmas day.
