Day 2 Tale of two Adventures

Evan & Katie's Big Day Out,
                                             We started off looking for a SIM card for Katie's phone. Found a small shop and chose one with the small SIM card and payed the grumpy middle eastern guy his pound. Caught the tube to Piccadilly Circus so we could buy cheap theater tickets to see Billy Elliot that night. Passed the bill board and Katie said they were £9.95 sounded good to me. Went to buy the tickets the girl said dress circle, OK that will do us. She said that will be £120 thank you. I replied by saying are there any cheaper she said no well what about the ones you advertised on the billboard she replied by saying show me. Went to the billboard that Katie saw the price on Katie needs to wear her glasses the tickets were £39.95 each our mistake OK I will take the tickets for £120 then. They were still £30 cheaper each anyway. Back to Katie's phone and she couldn't access where the SIM card goes in because you need a pin. No problem we will go to a gift store to find something to open up the phone no luck the pin we found was to large. Oh well we will head off to Tower of London and ring Jason from a telephone box so we can meet up for lunch. Back to the tube. Put my oyster card on the gate wouldn't let me in card error oh no. Went up for assistance I was told I had swiped it twice go back and try again. Still wouldn't let me in, back to the grumpy attendant again. She said I told you to wait five minutes before you try again it was well after five minutes but still would not work. She gave me a receipt and said go see one of the guards to let you through. Found one, he let me in so I had to find out what happened his answer was I swiped it twice so it was activated and it will correct it self when I leave the tube he was correct.

Arrived at Tower of London and joined one of the Beefeater guided tours. As last time they are very entertaining. Checked out the Crown Jewels and the armory. A lot of changes since last time I saw it. Katie enjoyed the Tower of London. Time to find a phone to ring up Jason should be no problem public phones everywhere in London. Headed to where Jason worked. I new the building he was in from watching the TV comedy IT Crowd. Found our first phone box no phone in it. Found a second one this one had a phone went in ready to put in my credit card couldn't find the hand set someone had cut it off. Now I was panicking had no way of contacting Jason. Decided to keep heading towards his building and hope for the best. After trying to find something else to open Katie's phone gave up and just wandered around trying to solve this problem when Katie yells out Jason she spotted him from his blond spot on the back of his head. Amazing a city of 13,614,409 people and we find him. He had a meeting to attend so had no time for lunch with us but he took us to The Captain Kidd so we could have a beer and a meal.

Ordered our beers asked if we could order food sorry kitchen is closed on Mondays. So Katie and I enjoyed our beers outside over looking the Thames and thinking about the hanging of Captain Kidd on this very spot 312 years previous.

Walked back to Tower Bridge and had lunch at Starbucks looking out at Tower Bridge. Went up to the bridge and went for a self guided tour over the bridge looking out over the Thames and taking in the history of the bridge. Down to the engine room and out through the gift shop.

Took the opportunity to look for something to open up Katie's phone and found a pin that fitted finally. Took out the original mini SIM card to replace with the new mini SIM. IT DID NOT FIT it was smaller than the mini SIM so just discovered there is now three different size SIM cards, we give up.

Time to head back to the apartment to get ready for the theater.
